چکیده

Desmoid tumors account for approximately 0.3% of all solid tumors. The chest wall represents 8-10% of all cases, and surgery is the primary treatment modality for sporadic resectable desmoid tumors. Currently, the term ‘‘sarcoma with low-grade malignancy’’ is preferred, due the tendency of these tumors toward local invasion and frequent recurrence, even after complete surgical resection. There have been few specific studies on chest wall tumors. However, its treatment may involve peculiarities, such as a difficulty in obtaining free surgical margins (particularly in the axillary region and in the cervicothoracic transition). We present our experience over the past eleven years in an attempt to identify the risk factors for recurrence in patients with desmoid tumors located exclusively on the chest wall.

Concomitant surgical treatment of a chondrosarcoma of the chest wall and a desmoid tumor of the gastrointestinal tract

The co-existence of a chondrosarcoma of the chest wall and a desmoid tumor in the gastrointestinal tract is rare. In both Polish and global literature, cases of chest wall chondrosarcomas are presented in the form of case reports. Desmoids of the gastrointestinal tract are more common; notwithstanding, their incidence in Europe is estimated at approximately 2 cases per 1 million inhabitants per...
